FREMONT – AN OVERVIEW
Nestled between the East Bay rolling hills and San Francisco Bay, Fremont is the 4th largest city in Silicon Valley. With 850 acres of vacant land – unheard of in the Bay Area – the city is growing its Innovation District, connecting businesses with talent and investors. The area consisting of Fremont, Newark, and Union City (formed from the communities of Alvarado and Decoto) is now known as the Tri-City Area.
The new Warm Springs/South Fremont BART station will soon make Fremont the central connection point between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. That’s important, with 20,000 new jobs expected by 2040 as Fremont positions itself to attract high-profile companies and start-ups.
Fremont is a place that thrives on creativity and problem solving. It’s come a long way since its agricultural founding in 1956… A merger of five smaller communities (Centerville, Niles, Irvington, Mission San Jose, and Warm Springs) Fremont boasts excellent schools, a wide range of residential housing options, and a terrific quality of life.
Not only that, while Newsweek voted Fremont one of Americas most inventive cities, Wall Street 24/7 reported it is the only Bay Area city to crack the top ten “best run city in the US” list. All that while also offering beautiful parks, recreational amenities (Lake Elizabeth/Central Park, Ardenwood Historic Farm and historic treasures such as Niles and Mission San José) and a culturally diverse and educated population – one out of a hundred residents holds a patent.
